2-Billion Trees
Reclaimit led the implementation of Canada’s 2-billion Trees Program (2-BT) on behalf of the Government of Northwest Territories in the Autumn of 2024. In the application of industry leading reforestation methods, the project successfully established tree and shrub plants within designated sites near the community of Kakisa, NWT.

Under the program theme, The Dignity of Work, the measurable successes included:
- Post-wildfire impacted lands (135 ha) benefitted from targeted applications to enhance wildlife habitat, restore plant diversity, and protect soil stability.
- All assignments were completed without a negative health, safety, environment, reputation, or quality event.
- Local employment from Fort Providence and Hay River was successfully implemented alongside trained mentors.
- 400,000 plants were established to quality specifications.
- The plant mix included 5 tree and 5 shrub species sourced from regional seed sources.

Reclaimit’s Partner-Plug, includes a combination of green alder (Alnus viridis) and white spruce (Picea glauca), Hay River, NWT.
The program provided the right mix of local and regional participation opportunities, was performed with a defensible cost structure, and is set for positive and sustainable program growth.
